Re: New rider - Gareth Slade
I have just realised that the Wild West route colours are Red and Green - no blue! Ok, at some point Yogi and I are
going to try the GREEN route.
going to try the GREEN route.

Lol, I call the Green Blue, as the green is marked with blue markers. Online they call it Green. Go Figure.
Re: New rider - Gareth Slade
Make sure you get a good night sleep cause you will need all your energy. When i complete the green loop without being exhausted then I will look at the red. It was good fun but now i understand why they call it enduro

Don't scare them off now Toast! @GC, don't bring an On/Off, you will not make it. I am not towing it off of the koppie.
Swallow your pride and bring the 100. You will be glad believe me.

Oh, By the way here is doing the O'l green route. As you can see this is Toast on his Yammie and his pink gloves...
Re: New rider - Gareth Slade
It would be nice if there was a whole group us. Next time i will have a better mind set. I went there thinking it was just goin to be an easy cruise. Its not scary but a good workout. Your mind is focused only on the dirt ahead

Toast, I now know what you mean. There is little one can say to describe WW to someone who hasn't been there. I came very close to chickening out of the whole thing. I arrived, got my kit on and then hit a couple of laps at the training area at the top. I then proceeded to watch Hippo, Top Shelf, and Sethu all fail to make it to the top of the first rock climb - and this on a KDX, and 2 BMW 450s. So little 'ol me and Lefty's borrowed "break it and I will break you" CRF100 sitting at the bottom of the hill watching all this unfolding, just decided to turn and go back to the parking lot.
But fortunately Rooster gave me a pep talk which went along the lines of "eff eff, and effing eff" and surprise surprise
I suddenly found myself on top of the first hill where I promptly used Hippo's bike as a brake! There was no holding me back after that.
I am so impressed with that CRF100 I cannot begin to tell you. Dropped it twice, HARD, and she just asked for more.

Oh. btw, Hippo and I did THREE loops of the BlueGreen route. Ahem, the 3rd was the least successful but we stuck to it.

Well done, its great fun hey. My bikes in pieces now. Replacing drive, rear sprocket, chain, rear brake pads and front bearings. Does anyone know what the fibre stuff is in the brake pad insulator?

Re: New rider - Gareth Slade
Fibre stuff is in the "No Damn Clue" bracket - assume they are there to stop squeal.
As I just put a dab of copper grease behind the pad - any questions put in the tech section, may be able to help.

Re: New rider - Gareth Slade
Um, Toast, you could ride it without brakes. Just ask Lefty how to do that. You use the bike in front of you to stop.
