Parys Day Ride: Sat 10 May ride to raise awareness of farm attacks.

Dirtbikes, Quads and Side by Sides all welcome! A lekker chilled ride through the countryside.

Muffins and coffee in the morning – a lekker braai on the trail.
Six farms have been opened to us. Optional technical section.

The ride is out near Parys - and it’s really good fun! Nothing too technical except for the mountain - and there is an escape route for that.

A Lekker braai for lunch. Awesome new trails. You can sleep over on Friday, the night before - camping or in lodges, or you can come for the day approx 100 km’s from JHB before Parys.

This is why we are hosting this ride: We have customers, friends and family who have all been affected by this – so… if we can contribute to the cause – why not?

The above statement is exactly what a group of farmers on the Farms between Fochville and Parys in the North West Province want to bring to South Africans. They are not a Political group of any sorts. They have a passion for farming and farmers and have taken a firm stand against the unnecessary and brutal attacks on farmers, their families and workers.
They know that when a farm attack takes place, there are a lot of things that go wrong. Normally the people are totally disorientated and do not know where to turn for help.

They are setting up a system where people can contact them for help. Some of the immediate requirements are:
Personal : Medical, Hospitalisation, Counselling , Medical Reconstructions.
Farm: Basic management, worker management, harvesting, Animal care.
Families: Counselling, financial support.

They are setting up a support network that offers the above as well as other services to victims. They are contracting various health care professionals to assist when needed. They are setting up a support network of farmers that will offer help to the victims of farm attacks by taking on the duties of the farm enabling the farmers, families and farm workers to heal after an attack.

They work closely with Afriforum and use their marketing systems to further the cause.
Afriforum has a weekly electronic newsletter, Vonkpos, that goes out to more than 47 000 members all over South Africa .
This goes out every Thursday.
Every farmer that leaves his/her farm is one farmer less to produce much needed food for South Africa as well as the rest of Africa. As a country we cannot afford to lose any more farmers.
In the area where we will be riding, the dairy farmers are reduced from more than 40 to 5. This is an indication of what is going on here and all over South Africa. Not all of these are due to farm attacks but it is definitely part of the problem. These are the people that they are trying to assist.
They are looking at various projects to raise funds to support the need that’s out there.
“We will be doing the Ride with Family Adventures on the 10th of May as well as the Quads 4 Quads ride in October.” “We are looking to have at least 20 Farmers riding with 10 backups.

“Our involvement would be an awareness campaign.”

The route is clearly marked, so you travel at your own pace or as a group. Our medic comes along – and we have marshals assisting all along the trail. The ride is really cool. Very few gravel roads, a lekker donga section, twee spoor Padjies and a lekker (optional) technical section for those of you who would like to have some added fun…

Option1: Day Ride: Check in from 7am and join us for the ride from 9am: Price: R320 per adult rider. Kids riding under 12 R165.00. Non riders R165.00 you get to go on a lekker game drive.

Option 2: Camping Friday night and ride: Includes dinner, breakfast and lunch.

BASIC FACILITIES: Camp at the farm. NO SHOWER. OWN TENT. Price Adult rider R620.00 Kids under 12 R445.00. Non riders R445.00 you get to go on a lekker game drive.

Option 3: Comfy Lodge. Book in on Friday evening. Dinner on the Farm. Breakfast at the lodge, ride and lunch on the trail. Price: R850 per adult rider. Kids riding under 12 R660.00. Non riders R660 – you get to go on a lekker game drive.
