Soooooooo.......
I managed to crash my baby on the rocks while on the blue route. Absolutely stupid mistakes were made
And this was the result. Wanted to die.

Hi Astrid, I still cannot see any pics. I hope you and Stormfly are ok. Sounds like not, but I will hope for the best.
What did you think of the blue route?

Re: Soooooooo.......
I scratched a massive piece off the clutch cover
I can always mail it to you.
Haha. I didn't get very far, sadly. Literally rode up, which was easy. Then I got to the top and crashed down the hill. Not used to that throttle. TG I had my new Leatt suit. Managed to hurt my tailbone. It's slightly uncomfortable to sit. Lol. No other bruises though. My head took a good hit. But I came off well considering I flew a good 5 meters before hitting the rocks on the left.
Very lucky this time. Feel so sorry for Stormfly though. It was the clutch cover, scratched the swing arm and the wavy brake disk. I landed a few meters ahead of her, but I think she skidded quite a bit.

Rooster???????????!!!!!!!!!!! Are you reading this. And to think half an hour ago I told Hippo I was going to commit to 2T. But your "not used to the throttle" is scaring me silly.
Is Stormfly ridable? And are you walkable and sittable?

Re: Soooooooo.......
OMG Gatecrasher! Don't be such a pansy
She's a racing bike.
The KDX is a 2T too you know. And you loved her. Not all 2T's are the same.
The Freeride 250 has a very fast throttle response. You move your hand 3mm and she goes at 10km/h, move it 5mm more and your speed jumps to 30 km/h odd easily. She's made to have instant power to climb like a goat. It's not for jumping or MX or even thick sand.
She's made for the likes of the Red Route and Koppies. It's just a matter of harnessing her power, which will take a bit of time. But we'll get there soon enough.
Now go do some proper research and get yourself a 2T!!

Re: Soooooooo.......
Oh, Stormfly should be ready by the weekend yes.
She lost all her gearbox oil and we need to patch her up still. Bought a carbon fibre cover to put over the clutch cover too. Oh and the rear brake lever broke off, so replacing that as well. Had to freewheel her back down the rocky hill I went up on and down to the parking lot. No idea how I got back to be honest. The shock got the better of me. Lol. All part of the fun though, right? Will tackle the blue route again soon enough.
Let's just say that I choose where to sit very carefully. Standing is cool, bending takes a bit longer than usual. But I rode through the pain yesterday. We took the KDX to Chestnut and Rooster gave me some turning lessons and clutch control. It's all about clutch control, right Rooster?

Re: Soooooooo.......
GateCrasher, The freeride may appear to be soft, but in truth it is probably one of the most hard-core bikes I have EVER been on.
It is a highly specialized, highly tweaked machine. Some of you MAY have gotten it through your frontal lobes by now that Astrid probably has larger nuts than most coconut trees - and I have every confidence that she will do Sormfly justice in no time at all.
When a Boer raises a daughter, she gets trained how to survive mate (and to make coffee). If she can live with a me, then that tells the whole story! But I digress...
The below are NOT Photoshopped
oooops
aaaaah
hmmmmm

Re: Soooooooo.......
Rooster, I don't think the Freeride is soft. I am soft!!!!! I want a bike which will make me look good without biting me every so often. They had a KX125 racer at KTM, maybe I should try that. It is the same height as the Freeride
AND only costs R52k!
Just kidding, if I am going to spend any money, it will either be less than R25k on an old bike, OR I am going to suck it up and just buy the dang Freeride.

Re: Soooooooo.......
3l per 100km, can't beat that lol, but I would like to take the BRM for a spin at the allowance of rooster please, lower mapping though, just to give the beast a feel. Prob in a more controlled environment and not on the top of a koppie during a church service like yesterday
